Today I would like to share with you five brilliant things I found by accident while travelling in Dublin.
Siopaella
It’s true..I am a little shoe obsessed. I dream of owning a giant room filled floor to ceiling with Jimmy Choos and Christian Louboutins, so you can imagine my absolute joy at stumbling upon Irelands largest designer resale and exchange store in the heart of Dublin. Specialising in buying and selling reloved Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Prada and more…..it is a little literally shoe heaven!
Ok so I am a little old. I do in fact remember buying sweets for a penny….yep a whole penny! This shop transports you back in time to a day when sweets were only sold from glass jars. Whether you are looking for liquorice, toffee, nougat or fudge, this shop has absolutely everything you could possibly want including handmade chocolate and limited edition sweets!
Set on Ormond Quay Upper next to Grattan Bridge, this coffee shop and restaurant could be so easily missed. It is small…cosy I think they say and the décor inside is definitely on the quirky side with retro wallpaper and hanging birdcages. The welcome was very warm and friendly and they were very helpful in providing gluten and dairy free options. They serve a range of fabulous pastries as well as lunch and more elaborate dinner options with an emphasis on good wholesome food. They also do a really good chai!
Well if you spent as much time and money in Siopaella as I did, then you will need somewhere to go to placate the man in your life. Ok….in all honesty, the little geek in me absolutely loved exploring Irelands longest running Irish owned comic store. Seriously….who doesn’t want to see R2-D2? Is it just me then? This place is a Marvel and DC fan’s heaven where you will find rare back issues, action figures galore and merchandise to feed every imagination.
You might have already seen a post I wrote here on this amazing hotel and wedding venue. This very grand Georgian country house is filled with a wealth of retro charm and iconic designer furniture. For a luxury boutique hotel it is as far away from ‘stuffy’ as you can get and goes out of its way to ensure you feel as though you are staying at a friends house…a truly gorgeous getaway destination.
