Some weddings require space. They are filled with so much loveliness that if I were to show you everything in one go, it would overload your senses! So I decided that I would spread Jen and Henry’s Pynes House wedding over the next 2 weeks.
They wanted to create a ‘fresh, soft, summery feel’ to the day so chose a palette that mixed blush pinks, cream, grey, and copper/rose gold. Using this as a starting point, the extraordinarily talented Laura Hingston provided the flowers and designed probably one of my favourite floral bouquets of all time! Jen explains:
‘For our flowers, we wanted something really soft, natural, elegant and beautiful, filled with pinks, peaches, white, cream, and natural foliage. Laura created our vision perfectly!’
The fabulous Claire Bowring provided the make-up on the day. She is an absolute master at soft, natural looking make-up.
‘I had the amazing Claire Bowring do my makeup, and she created a really natural, fresh look; blush pink cheeks, gold/bronze eye make up and a pinky/glossy lip.’
Rachel from Steven & Laurent hairdressers combined a beautiful half-up, half-down style with flowers from Laura.
Jen chose to wear a Lusan Mandongus dress:
‘The design of my Lusan Mandongus gown was absolutely perfect, with a really delicate lace, beautiful bateau lace neckline, sweetheart bodice, A-line silhouette and stunning low back – it completely took my breath away when I first tried it on, I immediately knew it was ‘the one!’
The bridesmaids dress designer TH & TH was found through an Instagram post. Jen instantly fell in love with their ‘Edie’ dress in blush pink which complimented the tones of the day perfectly.
‘The TH & TH girls were just setting up their online business and were offering ‘sneak preview’ appointments ahead of their launch, so Louie and Kitty brought their collection round to my London flat for my girls to try on; we all loved their designs and Louie and Kitty were just so lovely. I had no doubt that the Edie dress was what I wanted for my girls when they tried it on, and they all looked absolutely beautiful on the day.’
‘Henry wore a navy three-piece single breasted suit with a contrasting Prince of Wales check grey waistcoat. This was paired with blush ties and pocket squares to complement the bridesmaid dresses and flowers. To finish the look, all the guys wore double monk brown/tan shoes.’
Now it’s rare for me to take a shoe shot for the Groom…..but seriously….how gorgeous are these Carlos Santos shoes from Herring!
‘I think one of my favourite moments has to be walking into the ceremony, seeing Henry for the first time – we both just beamed with happiness at each other – I didn’t really take anyone else in, I was just totally fixated on Henry!’
One of the things I always recommend is having a wedding coordinator on site during the wedding to ensure that the day runs to plan.
‘I want to recognise Jo, Pynes wedding coordinator and her excellence in her ‘craft’. She was brilliantly attentive and there when you needed her, but almost an invisible presence who made the day run absolutely seamlessly.’
I always whisk my couples away from their guests for a few minutes after the wedding breakfast. It is always such a joy to watch a couple take some time out for themselves as Jen explains:
‘…..we also want to thank her (Natalie) for whisking us away to take our couple shots later in the day as the sun was setting; this was a really special moment, just us, to drink in and appreciate what a wonderful day we had had – this has to be another favourite moment!’
Check in next week to see the rest of this fab wedding!
