So I’m back this week with the second part to this stunning summer wedding at Pynes House in Devon. You can see the first part HERE
Henry & Jen put so much personality into every aspect of their wedding day so that every detail had a personal meaning to them. Jen explains the reasons behind their wedding breakfast theme:
‘We had a subtle Italian theme running through the day – we absolutely love our trips to Italian cities, with Rome particularly having a special place in our hearts and where Henry proposed. Our table names were some of our favourite spots in Rome, including our top table being the place where Henry proposed (the romantic orange garden that looks over the city). We had our favourite Italian wines, Prosecco and Moretti beers, and our favours were homemade limoncello.’
I loved that Henry & Jen found photos of their family and friends and used them as place holders….it’s such a fabulously personal touch!
‘We had fun making limoncello for our guests, which we presented in little corked bottles with ‘drink me’ labels. I also love Devonshire fudge so we had some traditional clotted cream fudge made by a local supplier, Suzy Sweet Tooth.’
Pynes House recommended Kate Burt Cakes to Henry & Jen and they couldn’t have been more pleased with the result, as Jen explains:
‘Our cake was amazing! We had a three tier rustic, romantic, partially naked cake with subtle distressed copper markings and drip effect styling over all tiers. Our tiers were different flavours; chocolate & salted caramel, coffee with chestnut and french buttercream, and chocolate and cherry, all covered with a white chocolate ganache frosting. Kate adorned the cake with macarons and fresh flowers.’
One of the most beautiful moments that I was able to record was a Chinese Tea Ceremony held in private for a few family and friends, as Jen explains:
‘As a nod to Henry’s Chinese heritage we had a Chinese Tea ceremony following our drinks reception. It was a really special and intimate ceremony, with our immediate family and wedding party taking part in blessing us during the exchanging of ceremonial tea and red ‘lai see’ envelopes. I was very lucky and got to wear a beautiful traditional Chinese wedding dress that Henry’s mum generously gifted to me following their recent trip to Hong Kong.’
The amazing food was provided by Dartmoor Kitchens…..one of my favs!
I asked Jen if she had one piece of advice that she could give brides-to-be……
‘Enjoy every minute – planning should be (mostly) fun and exciting and go with your instincts when booking your suppliers. Then just trust that it will all come together on the day and relax and enjoy what you have worked so hard to achieve! It truly was the best day of our lives.’
With much love,
